Public transport (bus, tram, trolleybus) runs regularly between the hours of 05:30 and 00:30. Tickets can only be purchased from a ticket inspector onboard, and they cost a fixed price of 0.20 Ls. A separate ticket will be necessary for trams, trolleybuses and buses. Some routes include night service, which runs every hour.
The penalty for unauthorized parking is 10 Lats.
How to get to Riga from the airport
You have the option of taking a taxi or a city bus from the airport to Riga city center.
A taxi from the airport will cost about 7 Lats (12-13 Euro).
The bus stop is across the parking lot directly in front of the arrival hall. Bus No. 22 will take you to the center in no more than 20-25 minutes. A bus ride is just 0.20 Lats and you can pay inside the bus. The bus will eventually leave you at the railway station.
Taxis
Taxis are considered safe and reliable in Riga. Unlike some other cities, incidents where taxi drivers cheat tourists are rare; however, some might attempt to charge foreigners more money. If you want to be absolutely certain, keep an eye out for a red Renault Megane, white Opel Omega, white Toyota Avis or a black Mercedes taxi. These models are used by large, reputable firms. A ride through the city center shouldn’t cost more than 2.00 Lats.

Driving
Driving in Latvia simply requires having a driver's license which meets international requirements. When you cross the Latvian border, you have to purchase a civil responsibility insurance policy costing 13 Lats per month. In case of an accident, you are entitled to compensation from the insurance company. Be sure to turn on your daytime headlights immediately upon crossing the Latvian border. Violation of this law results in a fine of 10 Lats. The speed limit in urban areas is only 50 km/h, and the fine for speeding can be from 5 to 50 Lats. The penalty for unauthorized parking is 10 Lats.
