OLD TOWN APARTMENTS
Brussels Transport
Old Town Apartments highly suggests using public transportation to explore the city during your stay in Brussels. There is an excellent network of Metro lines, Trams and Buses. There really isn't a need to drive a vehicle unless you need to reach the suburbs.
This suggestion stems from the fact that Belgians were not licensed to drive until the 60s and didn't have to pass a driver's exam until the 70s. Needless to say, the accident rate in Belgium is much higher than its fellow European countries. In addition, the bizarre system of roundabouts, tunnels, ring roads and boulevards can be very confusing to the average North American driver. Take our advice and stick with the less expensive and reliable means of public transport available throughout the city.
Brussels Intl. Airport
Brussels International Airport is less than 25 minutes from the city center and there are multiple options for reaching every part of the city. Travelers can use the Airport City Express train to reach Central, Midi and North stations All trains make 4 runs per hour between 6 am and Midnight. One-way tickets can be purchased for 2.60 Euro (2nd class) and 4.10 Euro (1st class). For 20 Euro passengers can purchase a round trip ticket to anywhere in Belgium and back. The train station is located on level -1 of the airport terminal.
There is a bus station located underneath the arrivals hall. Here you will find many bus routes to take you to every corner of Brussels. Useful numbers: Local buses from the airport (De Lijn) +32 (0)70 220 200 Trams, metro and buses in Brussels (STIB/MIVB) +32 (0)2 515 20 00
Taxis are always readily available just outside the arrivals hall. Please use caution when selecting your driver. Be sure to use a licensed driver. They can easily be identified by the blue and yellow license emblem. Taxis are available for users of wheelchairs.

Eurostar and Train Stations
Brussels Midi Station is the arrivals point for Eurostar high speed trains from London Waterloo, Ashford International, for trains from Brussels Airport, and buses from Charleroi. The dedicated Eurostar Brussels terminal is situated within the Gare du Midi station in central Brussels. All Eurostar tickets from/to Brussels are valid from/to any Belgian station at no extra cost. A stopover of up to 24hrs is permitted in each direction allowing you to spend an overnight in Brussels.
The Midi station is very close to our apartments and we suggest using a licensed taxi to transport you the short distance.
Metro and Tram lines
The Brussels Metro system consists of three main lines and a few short underground tramway sections. All together it creates an underground network more than 50km with 68 different stations.
The nearest station to our apartments is the Porte de Namur station. From here you can easily access any area of Brussels. To view a map of the Brussels metro system, I suggest using the following link. http://www.eurorailways.com/brochure/bru_metro.pdf
Brussels also has an extensive tram system with an adundance of stops throughout the city to deliver you to almost any street corner tyou desire. There are easy to read maps that will help you discover brussels located on the stops.
All JUMP tickets are valid on metro, buses (STIB, De Lijn, TEC), trams or suburban trains (SNCB) and have to be validated each time you get on a bus, tram or metro:

5-ride ticket -EUR 6.70
